Retractable Outlet Blocks: Usage and Connection Practices
Socket blocks are used for the good organization and convenient functioning of various workstations equipped with various office equipment for information and electric power networks.
An important role in these matters is played by retractable outlet blocks with various options for the execution of their housing, the aesthetics of placement in the interior of the premises and their types of attachment to furniture.
Today, the Russian market, both simple modular and built-in retractable sockets, is represented by products of such world-famous "brands" as the Spanish company Simon Connect, the German EvoLine, the Russian company Ecoplast.
Options and placement of outlet blocks in rooms
The installation of various outlet blocks, including retractable ones - any of us is able to perform independently.
There are many types of modern outlet blocks, both for their installation in racks and cabinets, and wall-mounted. Recently, retractable socket blocks are becoming quite popular, providing savings in working space and compactness for users.
The advantage of all socket units is that they save the room in which they are located from the presence of many wiring harnesses for various purposes, thereby providing the room with an appropriate aesthetic appearance and attractiveness, as well as safety for people in it.
These power and unified outlet blocks are used for uninterrupted power supply of various equipment, from the kitchen and office rooms to large conference rooms of firms.
The socket unit can accommodate up to 12 plug-in socket modules, however, the reliability of such maximally filled socket blocks is not entirely satisfactory. Therefore, for the most part 6–8 modular units are used, which provide both reliability and their corresponding aesthetic appearance.
The most popular right now are 19 and 10 inch socket blocks. Such blocks are made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) material, metal, as well as silicone or from these materials, in various combinations. The sockets themselves in the block can have an RCD (residual current device) and a fuse box.
Most often, the outlet block has a cable with a plug, through which it is connected to the mains.
Built-in power 3-module socket unit
Installation in cabinets and racks of outlet blocks is carried out by means of special fasteners included in their package. Power units for household power can go with a current load of 10A and 16A, which is limited by the corresponding fuse.
Any retractable socket unit can consist of 2-6 different modules built into it, starting from computer and power sockets, and ending with telephone, television and satellite communication sockets-modules.
The retractable outlet block fits perfectly into the kitchen furniture, as well as into the tables of office premises, conference rooms and large selector rooms.

Mounting option for the outlet block
Scheme of connecting the outlet block to the household power supply
Installation of such built-in outlet blocks in furniture is quite simple. The main thing here is to act in accordance with the corresponding "Instructions for their installation and connection", using the included products and the corresponding types of mounts.
For example, a built-in outlet pull-out unit with three outlet modules and grounding, a slight push down - hides in the countertop of any office or kitchen table. To get this built-in block from the countertop, you just need to press the block cover down, and then pull it vertically up and lock it. Worktops for installing recessed units are suitable with a thickness of 25 - 52 mm.
Note that all the power sockets of the retractable socket block are connected in parallel, and their general inclusion in the power network in most cases is done by simply plugging the plug into the nearby, long-installed electrical outlet.
