Duralight as a modern advertising tool
The article considers the concept of duralight lighting, its advantages and disadvantages.
For an effective sale of products and services, firms have long since “invented” a trouble-free method - exposure of customers to light advertising. Until recently, neon signs dominated advertising. But recent decades have gradually changed this situation: spread promotional items from luminous cords, or duralight.

Structurally, duralight is made in the form of a flexible transparent polyvinyl chloride (PVC) cord of rectangular or circular cross section. The reason for this is the complex equipment for switching on and working gas-light lamps. For their operation, a high-voltage transformer with an output voltage of 10 kV and a sharply falling current-voltage characteristic is required.
The lamps have glass bulbs and require caution during installation and operation.It is impossible to obtain complex figures or inscriptions without the help of glassblowers. Therefore, modern gas-light advertising costs from $ 12 per linear meter, which is 6-10 times more expensive than a duralight cord.
The comparative ease of connection and the variety of types allowed the duralight cord to conquer not only the outdoor advertising sector, but also invade home decoration. A variety of color solutions, the ability to build dynamic display scenarios with a change in brightness are a characteristic feature of duralight.
With the advent of new types superbright LEDs, development of technology of decorative optical fibers, the last drawbacks of duralight will be overcome: discreteness of luminescence and insufficient brightness. And then the neon "jungle" of cities will completely change to duralight.
