DIY knife with heel
Somewhere recently I read an article on the use of a knife with a "heel" from the company KVT. I did not see such a knife myself, but I liked the idea of opening wires and cables without damaging the insulation.
Buying such a knife is probably not a cheap pleasure. I decided to make a homemade one.
Basis I used a blade from a clerical knife, subjecting it to a slight revision. First I cut the spike for attaching the heel, then I grinded off the extra sharpening, leaving only the edge sharpened. He also sharpened the opposite side of the blade.

ANDs a piece of the same blade, using a diamond microdisk and a drill, made a heel with a slot in the thickness of the blade.
Heel was soldered to the blade with POS solder, orthophosphoric acid was used as a flux. The edges of the heel were wowed so that she would not “injure” the wires and insulation.
The knife blade was inserted into the aluminum profile from the frame for the mesh from the metal-plastic windows, and fastened it to the profile using a lime rail with cut. For reliability, I fixed it with a screw and a nut. I drilled a hole for this in the handle, aligning it with the standard hole in the blade.

Your knife with a heelrover on wires VVGng 3x1.5, 3x2.5, on a twisted cable VVGng 5x10. Conveniently, the insulation on the wires is not damaged.

In case of a blunt or broken blade, the main thing is not to lose the heel. Soldering it again is not difficult. And most importantly, it is probably cheaper than the company!
